Who attends Career Event?

At the fair, you can expect to meet maritime students, not only those studying at Kalmar Maritime University, but students from all over the country as well as students from programs focused on the operating industry.
The fair is open to everyone, which means that you also get the chance to meet former students and outside visitors who are generally interested in maritime and operations.
Master mariner students
All students receive Ship's Officer class V upon graduation.
Furthermore, all students have completed Tank Operative courses in both oil and chemicals.
Through their internship, some have gained the required sea time in order to obtain a Tank Operating Certificate for the respective vessel type through the Swedish Transport Agency directly upon graduation.
The majority of students have a Master mariner's Certificate, which means that after the required sea time they can directly sail as Chief Mate or Master mariner without further studies.

Operations and maintenance students
Is a three-year program that started in autumn 2014. The program focuses on operation and maintenance of systems and facilities that produce electricity and/or heat. After the program, our students can work, for example, as station technicians, operating technicians, commissioning engineers or operating engineers.
In addition to courses in the main area of Energy Technology, courses in electrical, control and regulation technology as well as leadership, technical English, project management and business administration are included.
Operation and Maintenance Technology replaces the two-year Operation Technician program and the one-year Operation Engineer course, which together had roughly the same content as the new program.
